At Robert's suggestion, we will visit the village of Deene. It has Deene Park, a stately home that may perhaps be photographed from the outside and a picturesque lake. St Peter’s church comemorates Crimean soldier General James Brudenell, 7th Earl of Cardigan who led the Charge of the Light Brigade. Thomas Henry Wyatt was commissioned to effectively rebuild the medieval church, retaining only it’s original tower and spire. A nice lady called Pauline will allow us to access the church.
Socialise later at The George, 5 Stamford Rd, Weldon, Corby NN17 3JL. This is the same pub as for our meeting on Thursday 8th June. We have been there before and it has a nice garden and of course real ale.
