They approached me this year to see if we were interested in attending

As usual please keep an eye on this post due to the weather
A visit to Wellend Gliding Club, they only operate on a Saturday and Sunday, hopefully the weather will be more favourable this year, drinks and refreshments along with sandwiches served at a small additional small cost (bacon sandwich). 

If anyone wishes to take a trip in a glider for a fee you will also be permitted to take a small camera

They are happy for us to visit on the Saturday or Sunday, I ask that you arrive before 10am to...

Tue 30 Jun 2026 - Summer Event - Deene Church & Nature Reserve - NN17 3EW

A visit to Deene Church to have a look around the grounds then take a walk to the rear to photograph the many birds that frequent the lake

Alternatively bring your macro lenses and photograph the many spiders and other insects, we have also seen a couple of lizards, the lake will also have lillies and hopefully a good selection of dragonflies

Parking is in the laybay or along the road

I will be travelling through the villages of Great Gidding, Glatton and Holme (B660), at the T Junction for St Mary's turn right and follow, just before you leave Ramsey Heights you will see a right turn on the bend (signposted). Just follow the lane all the way to the end, bare right and turn around then park up

After going over the crossing at Holme be careful as there are some nasty troughs in the road

Plenty of wildlife here, birds, insects...

Inspired by our talk from David Gulliver - You will need Camera, Tripod, trigger release if you have one, macro lens if you wish, flash or independent lighting, miniature models (people etc.), and any props or backdrops you choose to use. You can, of course, just turn up with your camera and borrow what you need!
